DWM Luger 9mm Luger Pistol with Period Correct Boise Idaho Holster
This is a recently acquired Artillery Luger chambered in 9mm Luger that came out of a collection from Montana. The DWM Luger is a fascinating piece of history! DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken) was a German arms manufacturer that produced the Luger pistol, officially known as the Pistole Parabellum.
The gentleman that this pistol was purchased from was involved with the Sheriff's Department in Roundup Montana. He was allowed to buy this from them years ago, and of course there's a story! There had been a bank robber that had come through from Texas to a place called Cutbank Montana. A bank robbery then took place and the guy was arrested. When he went to pick up his coat with law enforcement, this Luger was hidden in the sleeve. Law enforcement was definitely wiser than him that day, and the gun was recovered with no altercation.
This is a fantastic old Artillery Luger with a manufacture date of 1917. It's in great shape with cartouches. Given the combination of the proof marks (crown stamps and eagle), and the "1917" stamp, this Luger is likely a World War I-era
firearm. The Artillery Luger was designed for use by German artillery units, hence the name. It has an adjustable rear sight with eight positions for different ranges and a 7.9" barrel. Its longer barrel and adjustable sights made it suitable for engaging targets at greater distances. These pistols were widely used by German military forces during that time.
It also has the stock modification that kept it legal back during the prohibition years. There's truly no telling what all it has seen. This one is about as good as they come!
