Ithaca World War II Era M 1911 A1 U.S. Army 45 Auto

This is a recently acquired pistol in good condition with a rich history. The Ithaca M 1911 A1 U.S. Army is a classic semi-automatic pistol that was widely used by the U.S. military during World War II. This 1911 has documents of correspondence from 2023 with an FOIA Officer with the Operations Branch/Mission Support Division Logistics Data Analysis Center US Army Material Command from Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity from the Civilian Marksmanship Program. The left side of the slide is marked "ITHACA GUN CO., INC. ITHACA, N.Y." and the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the right side as well as "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY". The left side of the frame features the "FJA" inspection stamp. Records from FOIA are from 2010 to 2023. This pistol was made in the USA with a manufacture date of 1943. It has a 5" barrel, parkerized finish and checkered grips. There is a name etched onto the magazine. It appears to be WMJ Deragisch. A little research indicated it could have once been used by William Joseph Deragisch (1913–2001): He was a retired U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II for over 20 years. After his military service, he also retired from the El Paso Independent School District at Fort Bliss. This pistol comes in a heavy-duty tactical box and lock from CMP and the Direct and General Support Maintenance Manual from the Headquarters, Department of the Army, dated 22 June 1964.
