This is a recently acquired Colt New Service Revolver chambered in .45 Colt with a 7 1/2" barrel, blue finish and smooth wood grips with lanyard loop. According to the Factory Letter, this revolver was one of 703 sold to The United States Government and shipped to the Commanding Officer, Ordnance Depot, Manila, Philippine Islands on July 12, 1911. This shipment was part of the historic replacement of the Army's .38 caliber revolvers that had proved ineffective against the Morro warriors in the Philippines. It originally shipped with a 5 1/2" barrel but was replaced with a N.O.S. 7 1/2" barrel that is period correct and in new condition. Overall, it's in great condition with wear consistent with age and use. Please see pictures for accurate depiction of this historical piece.
