Remington Rand Inc. World War II Era M 1911 A1 U.S. Army 45 Auto

This is a recently acquired pistol in good condition with a rich history. The Remington Rand 1911A1 is a classic semi-automatic pistol that was widely used by the U.S. military during World War II. This 1911 has documents of correspondence from 2023 with an FOIA Officer with the Operations Branch/Mission Support Division Logistics Data Analysis Center US Army Material Command from Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity from the Civilian Marksmanship Program. It has a Remington Rand Inc. slide and an Ithaca frame that is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the right side as well as "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" the left side features the "FJA" inspection stamp. It appears to have started its service in an unknown unit and traveled to Headquarters U.S. Army Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command in Anniston, AL to Fort Moore, Ga, and back to Anniston, Al to eventually wind up in the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Records from FOIA are from 1988 to 2018. This pistol was made in the USA with a manufacture date of 1945. It has a 5" barrel, parkerized finish and checkered grips. It comes in a heavy-duty tactical box and lock from CMP and the Direct and General Support Maintenance Manual from the Headquarters, Department of the Army, dated 22 June 1964.
